TRANSPACI
Project on cocoa butter valorisation. It is from women in Ivory Coast used to the huge presence of cocoa in their country, who wanted to transform it and use it in and for their country first. The primary products are: a body butter, an anti-wrinkle care, a hair care mask and a hair serum.
I was tasked firstly, with reformulating the existing products to have a more stable texture. Indeed, the products being completely natural and made with 50%+ cacao butter; sometimes they are completely melted at high temperatures and are too hard at colder ones.
Thus, I have worked on two types of solutions: increasing the melting point and consistency using Beewax and Cetearyl Alcohol/Stearic acid; using an emulsified version (either W/O or O/W).
Secondly, I had to develop a shampoo and a shower gel. I worked on several formats: aqueous form and emulsified one. Also, I have done conditioning shampoo and more conventional ones.
That allowed me to know some intricate characteristics of different raw materials used: the melting point, the behavior through time, the maximum efficacy of emulsifiers, the combinations to do and not to do, etc.
At the end, the clients had different prototypes to choose from, which is good when you are not exactly of what you want at first.
